The Rainbow Connection

Writer's picture: Red Writing HoodRed Writing Hood

I woke up to a rainbow

And I knew

Summer was leaving and

Autumn was arriving

As they passed each other by

Summer with her sunshine

Autumn with her rain

An array of colours appeared in the gloom of it all

My eyes lingered on this vision for a while

If I only stared hard enough, the colours might stay, I thought

But rainbows can't remain, as is their nature they slowly fade away

And so must Summer

Right then we said our goodbyes

She gently let go of my hand and I let it happen

I'm ready now

Our newfound friendship I will keep

The memories of gentle warmth on my skin

Sweet scented flowers and the buzzing of bees that make them so

In a year's time we will meet anew
