Letter to the Weather: Dear Sun,

Writer's picture: Red Writing HoodRed Writing Hood

Dear Sun,

Where are you? I miss you.

You've been gone for so long. I know you do come out every single day and it's not entirely your fault. Your presence is filtered by the clouds. All. The. Time. It's been months that I've been able to enjoy the soft, warm light you spread. My muscles relaxing as your rays envelope me in what I can only describe as the kindest hug imaginable.

Perhaps I've made you feel underappreciated. If so, I do apologise for that. While, yes, stormy, rain filled nights in autumn are my favourite, I still love you too. A lot in fact. The manner in which you make your way through my living room window, casting a warm glow across the pictures on the wall. Warming up that cosy spot on my sofa for me to get comfortable first thing in the morning with my cup of tea in hand. Nature lights up when you do. I've seen it happen.

I know that you get a little excited during July and August and that I don't always care for your enthusiasm during that particular period, but I'll try to be better about it in the future. When that time comes I will make sure to remember the days I've had to spend without you. How lucky I am to be able to greet you every morning.

I've had a chat with the clouds. I've asked them to step aside for now. It is spring after all and they've had their time to shine. It's your turn now. I've cleared the stage for you, you see. I'm ready to feel the warmth of your rays shining down upon my UV sensitive skin. Visit me often, won't you? I will forever be grateful to you if you would and I vow to never take you for granted ever again.

Most sincerely,

The one who needs you most right now.
